What is Shamanic Healing?

Shamanism is a branch of animism. Animism, the experience that everything is alive and conscious, is at least 35,000 years old, making it our oldest form of spiritual practice and healing. Shamanism says that we get ill through either soul loss, where we lose part of our self through a traumatic event of some kind, or by power loss, caused by disconnection with nature and the spiritual world. Both soul loss and power loss leave us weakened and vulnerable to ‘intrusions’ (things that are in us but which shouldn’t be). These can range from: toxins and pathogens, addictive substances or behaviors, unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, and even other people and their influences on us (including inherited and family patterns).

Shamanic healing seeks to gently but firmly: remove the intrusions; heal our body, soul and spirit; restore the missing power and soul parts to make us whole and immune to further intrusions.
